The original medical school of University of Medicine Cluj-Napoca was founded in 1775. In 1989, Medical and Pharmaceutical education at Cluj-Napoca began a rapid modernisation process, and the faculty was renamed the University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Today, the University of Medicine Cluj-Napoca is considered the most prestigious university in Romania. English language instruction at this Cluj-Napoca medical school was established in 1997. Today, over 5000 students attend from over 50 countries.

Founded in 1961, the Ovidius University in Constanţa offers an excellent education in a beautiful setting.

With 15,000 students, this Constanţa medical school is the largest university in southeastern Romania and the Black Sea region as a whole. The Faculty of Medicine at Ovidius University in Constanţa is state-financed and has been delivering degrees in General Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy to international students since 1990.

Although considered to be one of the youngest medical schools in the country, it is one of the most dynamic and demanding of all medical schools in Romania. The Romanian medical school has a diverse student population in its six-year medical programme, with students coming from Europe, USA, Nigeria, Lebanon, and more.

The University of Oradea has quickly gained a reputation for excellence throughout Europe since its inception in 1990. The Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy was established in 1991, and this public Oradea medical university houses around 1,200 scientific staff and faculty, with over 500 international students studying Medicine in Oradeo in English.

The six-year program curriculum at the University of Oradea was developed in collaboration with Harvard University in Boston, and several other US universities. The University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș began in 1945 and received its current name in 1991. This public university is the only healthcare university where teaching is delivered in Romanian, Hungarian, and English.

Today the university has over 3200 students and over 700 teachers and researchers. 100 students from around the world are admitted each year to this Romanian medical school.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy uses case-based learning and clinical internships in its curriculum. A Simulation and Medical Skills Centre was recently opened with three departments: Medical Skills, Medical Simulation and Standardized Patient Care. Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine Târgu Mureș medical university continue studies or residencies in Europe and throughout the world.

Romania’s oldest university, founded in 1857, The Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy is located in the capital of Bucharest, the commercial center of Romania.

Originally founded as a State Medical University, this Bucharest medical school was named after Carol Davila, a prestigious Romanian physician of Italian ancestry. The Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy has gradually developed into an internationally-recognised university offering various courses in Medicine and Pharmacology, with the General Medicine degree comprising six years of study.

In addition to a high school leaving diploma, an English Language Certificate (TOEFL) is required to study medicine in Romania.

Founded in 1879, the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy is located in Iasi, one of the most important cities of Romania. Iasi is considered the historical and cultural capital of the country.

Named in honor of scientist Grigore T. Popa in 1991, this Iasi medical school is classified by the Romanian Ministry of Education as an advanced research and education university. It comprises of four sections of medical study: Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and Biomedical Engineering. Both General Medicine and Dentistry are six-year programmes.

Over 600 students from about 40 countries around the world attend Grigore T. Popa each year, which creates a diverse learning experience for international students.
