Debrecen is the second-largest city in Hungary with a population of approximately 300,000 residents. This historic university was founded in 1538, with the Medical Faculty of the University situated in the city centre, offering degrees in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy.
The curriculum for General Medicine in English at the University of Debrecen is a six-year course, with Pharmacy being a five-year course. The entry requirements include a general university entrance qualification, and admission tests in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The Semmelweis University is the oldest university in Hungary, and is located in the capital city of Budapest. Today, Semmelweis University is also one of Hungary’s largest healthcare providers, offering healthcare to over 2.3 million patients every year. With more than 10,000 students, 8,000 staff and 27 clinics, the university holds an important place in the Hungarian healthcare system, as well as in the international higher education sector.
A degree course in General Medicine at Semmelweis takes six years to complete, with Dentistry and Pharmacy each taking five years. The admission requirements consist of a general university entrance qualification and admission tests in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English.

Szeged is the third-largest city in Hungary and is located in the south of the country. The University of Szeged is one of Hungary’s leading universities, with the Faculty of Medicine, Laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi, being named after the former Dean and Nobel laureate.
The English-language medical degree program in Szeged started in 1985. Currently there are approximately 1,000 students studying the degree, with the Medicine course lasting six years, and Dentistry and Pharmacology each lasting five years.
The University of Szeged focuses on research, with modern facilities, and was ranked as the best university in Hungary in 2016. International relations are a high priority here, with many links with Erasmus and partner universities.
Graduates of the University of Szeged Faculty of Medicine can apply for hospital residency positions worldwide, and participate in the US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
