MEDICAL STUDIES IN GERMANY
The desire to study medicine and to be able to treat patients is a truly honorable endeavor. Since foundation, the Berlin Medical Academy has been helping prospective students gain acceptance to medical schools in Germany and fulfill their dream of a career in medicine.
The university admissions for medicine programs are limited in Germany. Every year there are more applicants than places available. Being accepted to a German university is not solely dependent on grades. Meaningful preparation and an impressive CV go a long way to securing a place at a German medical school. The pre-med semester at the Berlin Medical Academy goes a long way in helping students secure their place at medical university. The Council for Higher Education Admission grants university places every year according to the following criteria:
20% are allocated according to final school grade
20% are allocated through waiting time ratio (the time in which one student place is waited for but no enrollment is available for another degree course)
60% are selected by the college or university (interviews, tests)
If you are not chosen by the Council for Higher Education Admission or from the college or university itself, in most instances you have the chance to undergo entrance examination. These exams require a well-founded personal scientific knowledge (biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy). Exams are complemented by personal selection interviews.
This is where Berlin Medical Academy’s pre-med course is so important. IIt is not only considered equivalent with the subjects biology, chemistry and physics as taught in most secondary schools, but can add value to your CV and increase the chances of getting a place at university.
A completed Pre-Med course from the Berlin Medical Academy also shows the strong desire to take up the study of medicine in Germany and the willingness to prepare greatly.
