The pre-med semester at the Berlin Medical Academy goes a long way in helping students secure their place at medical university. The Council for Higher Education Admission grants university places every year according to the following criteria:
20% are allocated according to final school grade
20% are allocated through waiting time ratio (the time in which one student place is waited for but no enrollment is available for another degree course)

If you are not chosen by the Council for Higher Education Admission or from the college or university itself, in most instances you have the chance to undergo entrance examination.
